About Diatyposis
I’m Kristi-Lynn, lead designer and strategist of Diatyposis.
Diatyposis is a woman- and LGBTQ-owned design studio. My work is guided by feminist and ethical principles that prioritize the safety, dignity, and agency of the people on the other side of the screen. I have partnered with nonprofits, universities, and mission-driven teams to build digital systems that are as resilient as their missions.
Expertise for the common good. I’ve spent two decades in product design, including several years leading work for global brands and high-scale media properties. This experience allows me to bring a high level of technical sophistication and strategic insight to the advocacy world. I believe community organizations deserve tools that are just as powerful as those used by the world’s largest tech companies.
When I’m not at my studio, I’m an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut, mentoring the next generation of designers to lead with ethics and empathy.
Audit Your Digital Integrity
I’ve spent 20 years designing for human rights and advocacy. To help your organization align its technology with its mission, I’ve developed a free Digital Integrity & Safety Audit. It’s a self-assessment designed to help you protect your community and improve accessibility.
How I work.
A few things you can count on.
You’ll always know the ‘why’
Design decisions shouldn't feel like a black box. I'm plainspoken about trade-offs, honest about constraints, and committed to making sure you understand how every choice affects your users' privacy and access.
Built to last without me
I design for the long term—building systems your team can confidently manage and maintain once our work together is done. Independence is the goal, not dependency.
The interface is just the beginning
I think about the whole ecosystem: how sensitive data moves behind the scenes, how a tool will function when it matters most, and what your community needs that they might not have words for yet.
We're in it together
I treat every engagement as a genuine partnership—not a transaction. That means honest communication, clear expectations, and a shared commitment to getting it right for the people your work serves.
The Women’s Privacy Project
My design practice is rooted in advocacy.
As the founder of the Women’s Privacy Project, I track the evolving landscape of data privacy and digital rights. I bring this knowledge into every project—the organizations I work with shouldn't have to choose between functional tools and principled ones.
Ready to build something that reflects your values?
I'm currently open to new projects with human rights and community organizations. If you think we'd be a good fit, I'd love to hear what you're working on.
