Grab stock images easily with Unsplash in Squarespace.

Unplash has a huge library of images that are free to use on your website, and searching their library is built right into Squarespace. Let’s get started!

Add an Image

When you add an image into a page or when you’re adding a thumbnail to a blog post, you’ll find an option to search for an image below the Upload field. If you click on that area, you’ll see an Image Search panel.

Search for a Keyword

You can choose from free or premium images with the tabs at the top of the Image Search panel, but either way, enter some keywords relevant to the content you’re looking to support with imagery! For this post, I searched for ‘photographer’.

Add to Site

Click the Add to Site button and the image will be added to your “Imported” files as well as inserted into the page or thumbnail image space.

Give Credit

Whenever possible, I encourage you to give credit to the photographer as well. It’s not necessarily required by the licensing agreement with Unsplash, but these photographers are providing their work free of charge, the least we can do is give them credit where it’s due!

You can add their name to the caption area of most images within your page content, and I recommend also linking to their page on Unsplash. You can find that link by right clicking on the photographer’s name and choosing “Copy Link Address” and then use that to create a link in your caption (see my example at the top of this post).
